Milk is deemed to be a good source of calcium and other essential nutrients. However, a recent Harvard study confirmed that drinking milk regularly is actually detrimental to one’s health.

Based on the said study, just two glasses of milk daily is enough to promote the development of cancer cells in the body. Milk is also linked to some gastrointestinal problems like lactose intolerance and allergies.

But despite these issues and concerns lurking on milk, a lot of people still believe that drinking a glass of milk daily will keep them healthy.

In fact, people in the U.S. cited that drinking milk has been part of the western diet for so long as reflected both on New and Old Testaments.

Indeed, this recent finding from Harvard needs more scientific support before the public completely agrees that drinking milk daily is not anymore applicable in the 21st century.

How Milk is Produced (Milk Companies Will not let you Know)

  • Pasteurization. All dairy products undergo Pasteurization or applying extreme heat to milk to kill harmful bacteria as well as increasing its shelf life.
  • Homogenization. This process is responsible for ensuring that fat milk will not settle on top of the final product. Mechanical pressure is applied to raw milk for this process.
  • Hormones. Do you know that to address the high demand of the market, cow owners inject active growth hormones to trim the lactation gap? Some well-known growth hormone is the recombinant bovine growth hormone (BGH) and the rBST, which is a lab-produced replication of the BGH.
  • Antibiotics. Dairy cows are also injected with antibiotics if they are battling from a critical illness. Don’t worry because you will not get the same antibiotic as you sip your favorite milk since all the cows that will be treated will be isolated for up to 4 days before they go back for lactation.
